Driving north out of Taumarunui early in the morning, Jude suddenly exclaimed, ‘there’s one!’ – Dick quickly parked the car, got his camera out, and the vista was captured for perpetuity, adapted for this lithograph. A stylised depiction of a quintessentially ‘Kiwi’ landscape, Just outside Taumarunui allows us to pause amid the tranquil rivers, forests and sky that we often fleetingly glimpse on a road trip.
